Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Instructor 3 Practice Test

The correct answer identifies the two primary categories of evaluations for training programs: formative and summative.

Formative evaluation occurs throughout the training process and focuses on the ongoing assessment of a program while it is being implemented. This evaluation aims to provide feedback that can be used to improve the training program in real time. It helps instructors and participants identify areas that need enhancement, allowing for adjustments to be made to improve learning outcomes before the training concludes.

On the other hand, summative evaluation takes place after the training program has been completed. It assesses the overall effectiveness of the training and measures whether it achieved the intended learning outcomes and objectives. This type of evaluation typically involves analyzing the results and impacts of the training program to determine its success and efficacy.

By combining both formative and summative evaluations, training programs can ensure they are continuously improved while also measuring their overall effectiveness upon completion. Understanding these evaluations is crucial for designing effective educational experiences that meet the needs of learners.
